Samish Kumar is CEO and Director of Transfast, a leading global funds transfer and payments company. Under his leadership, Transfast has become one of the fastest-growing companies in the worldwide remittance market and a major player in cross-border payments solutions.
Mr. Kumar has a distinguished track record in the financial services industry. He became Transfast’s CEO in 2007, bringing nearly 20 years of experience in the emerging markets investment banking and payments industries. He is Transfast’s second CEO in its 27-year history, having led the acquisition of and investment in Transfast in partnership with GCP Capital Partners, a New York-based $1.9 billion private equity fund.
Mr. Kumar developed and executed the strategy to build a global, cross-border funds transfer and payments network that covers over 120 countries across Asia, Africa and Europe, creating a multichannel and multi-product strategy that includes mobile, online and in-person origination and disbursements. Under Mr. Kumar’s leadership, in 2009, Transfast became the first global money transfer company to bring cross-border instant bank deposit to market.
Prior to Transfast, Mr. Kumar served as Director and Vice President of global investment banks UBS Warburg and ING Barings, where he specialized in emerging markets.
Mr. Kumar earned his MBA from Columbia University and a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Colorado-Boulder.
