Mike graduated with a BSc (Hons) in geology from the Royal School of Mines, Imperial College, University of London in 1980. He joined the States of Jersey from the Welsh Development Agency (WDA) where he held the position of Executive Director with responsibility for international inward investment across 14 countries. Before joining the WDA, Mike spent over 20 years in senior management positions in the international oil and gas industry in exploration, production and commercial roles based in London and Houston, Texas. Mike moved to Jersey with his wife and six children in August 2005.

In Mike’s current role he has responsibility for the development of sport and culture in Jersey in addition to policy, strategy and legislation in support of the growth of Jersey’s economy including international inward investment and trade development, business support for SMEs and support for the tourism, agriculture and fisheries sectors.
